Poke Alarm-Katie Scheuch

Have you ever accidentally slept in when you really needed to get up for something extremely important? Have you ever wished that you still had your mom around to wake you up for class in the morning! With the poke alarm, all of your sleeping in troubles will go away!

Idea Generation
Have you, or have you ever known someone that has failed a class simply for the fact that it is impossible to wake up in the morning? In various situations I have found that many college students simply do not go to class because they do not have someone to help them wake up. The poke alarm will fix this problem! The device is simply a comfortable, lightweight wristband-alarm clock that you wear around your wrist at night. The band monitors your heart rate throughout the night, and compares it to your normal resting heart rate before you fall asleep. The college student simply sets the desired time to wake up. When the desired time rolls around, the alarm beeps and pulses around the wrist, feeling like someone is poking your wrist. The poking will not stop until the user's heart rate increases to what it should be when you are awake. Also, for those who are extra hard to wake up in the morning, you can record a saying to motivate you to wake up.

Idea Screening
College students would be an ideal group to test Poke Alarm. This age group is the target market, since it is very easy to sleep in when on your own in the college environment. The students should be surveyed to determine how they would like this product. The product price will be determined through research analysis of alarm clocks and how much college students are willing to pay.

Business Analysis
The Poke Alarm will cost $15, about the same as an alarm clock and a cheap watch.

Development

The product will be made from a lightweight material that will fit comfortably on the user's wrist. The design will be so lightweight that the user will hardly know it is there. This will allow for convenience and comfort.

Commercialization

The product will be advertised on college campuses, since college students will be the target market. Also, it will be advertised in "Back to School" ads in major chain stores like Wal-Mart, Sears, and Target.
